Introduction
You will play the role of a Myrmidon and will go on missions as an active
member of an underground (and illegal) army of rebel Myrmidon. Each mission will
have primary and secondary objectives. You will be allowed to choose which
mission you wish to take and can play the same mission multiple times.
You will face many foes - intelligent and animal alike. Combat with these
enemies, along with completion of the various objectives in the missions,
will garner you experience and more sophisticated weaponry and tools.
As you gain experience and improve your skills, you will find your character
becoming a mighty force to reckon with.
Inspiration
The crew here at 21-6 Productions thoroughly enjoy playing games such
as Asheron's Call, Diablo, and Tribes 2 as a team. Myrmidon will focus on team
adventuring and RPG elements such as character building and combat. Myrmidon
will also focus heavily on mission-based adventuring. Each mission is
basically a self-contained adventure in itself.
Team Adventuring
One of the main design goals behind Myrmidon is adventuring as
a team. This is not a player vs. player game and instead pits
your team against hostile alien and Terran forces controlled by
Artificial Intelligence. Every mission has a series of primary
and secondary objectives, as well as hidden areas, that the
team can complete in order to be rewarded with experience, items,
and credits.
Character Attributes and Inventory
Every Myrmidon character has their own set of attributes, like
Dexterity and Endurance, which control different aspects of game
play much like a true role-playing game. One example of this control
is that of aiming your weapons, which is done automatically and is
dependant on the characters various attributes and power-ups. Every
character also has their own inventory to manage with the many
fantastic items to be found in the worlds of Myrmidon, like futuristic
weapons, energy shields, bio-implants, and nanite injections.
Both the attributes and inventory of a character are persisted
between missions.
Mission Generator
Each time you play a mission it will be different, which includes not
only different foes and terrain features, but also different objectives
and locations of these objectives, and rewards for completion of these
objectives. These dynamic mission elements ensure that the same mission
is quite different each time it is played.
Indoor and Outdoor Environments
Thanks to the Torque Game Engine, players of Myrmidon will
enjoy adventuring across the many outdoor landscapes of planets in the Terran
Empire as well as incredibly detailed interiors/buildings, both Terran and
alien alike.
