Shot Bots is a top-down arcade shooter inspired by Robotron and Smash TV. We’ve added a 3D engine and a bunch of multiplayer modes to bring this game play experience into the modern age.
The game supports both an Xbox 360 controller using the left stick for robot movement and the right stick for the firing direction. We’ve also built an intuitive mouse/keyboard control scheme where you left click on the screen at the point you want the robot to shoot. Let go of the mouse and the robot stops shooting. WASD moves the robot around the screen.
The 15 levels built for the game make use of the 3D engine and top-down perspective to create a sense of vertigo and depth in the scene.
Game modes include:
Free for All – Straight up death match for up to 16 players.
Team Death Match – Death match with teams. Master of the obvious.
Loot – Pick up gears spawning around the level and take them to one of a few delivery locations to score points. Kill other players to steal their gears.
Generals – A team game with one player from each team acting as the General. Generals are extra tough and must be protected at all costs. Kill the opposing team General to score points. When the General dies, another player from that team is randomly chosen to be the new General.
Capture the Gear – A gear randomly spawns on the level. All players must try to grab it first. The person who grabs the gear must then deliver it to their base. If the player carrying the gear dies, it is dropped and other players may pick it up. Score points by delivering the gear successfully.
Swarm – One player is deemed the “Runner”. This player can run faster than everyone but is the target. Kill the Runner to score points and become the Runner.
